Stroud National Agency, Inc. is excited to announce a new option for high-risk farm and ranch insurance coverage. Our partnership with ARU gives agents access to policies designed specifically for operations that fall outside traditional underwriting guidelines.
This non-admitted insurance program empowers agents to secure coverage for clients who’ve often been turned away by standard markets.
Non-admitted insurance gives you a smart, flexible way to say yes to clients that other carriers aren’t able to serve.
A Solution for Challenging Agricultural Risks
Some insurance carriers focus on admitted insurance policies, which are regulated by a state’s Department of Insurance and participate in the state’s guaranty fund, which protects policyholders if the insurer becomes insolvent.
Non-admitted insurers are not licensed by the state, but are permitted to operate under special surplus lines regulations. While their policies are not backed by the guaranty fund, they offer more flexibility in the types of risk they can cover.
Access to non-admitted insurance policies allow agents to offer higher-risk clients a policy when traditional, admitted carriers can’t write the risk.
Flexible, Comprehensive Coverage Through Non-Admitted Insurance
Since 2016, ARU has earned a national reputation for their expertise in poultry confinement and other complex agribusiness risks.
Their Farm, Ranch, and Rural Estates Insurance program continues that legacy, offering flexible solutions for:
- poultry or hog confinement operations
- dairy and equine facilities
- farms with prior cancellations, gaps in coverage, or claims history
- rural estates or older structures that don’t fit traditional underwriting
- hobby farms and smaller-scale producers
This partnership gives independent agents access to ARU’s program in all 18 states we operate in—opening doors to write more business with non-admitted insurance in places where coverage used to be hard to find.
ARU’s flexible coverage packages make it easy to align protection with your client’s needs and budget. Coverage options include:
- dwellings: primary, seasonal, mobile, and manufactured homes
- farm structures, barns, sheds, and grain bins
- mobile equipment, ATVs, UTVs, and irrigation systems
- generators, well pumps, and water systems
- farm and personal liability
- loss of income
With TIV limits up to $15M per location, digital policy delivery, and installment billing without finance charges, ARU brings efficiency and scalability to a traditionally underserved space
What This Means for Independent Insurance Agents
This partnership gives agents more than just another market—it provides a dependable way to protect clients who’ve struggled to get coverage elsewhere. Whether you’re supporting a multi-generational farm or a first-time landowner, you’ll gain the ability to deliver real solutions.
By working with a non-admitted insurance carrier, agents will be able to offer surplus lines, but will also be required to meet diligent search requirements and provide additional disclosures to clients.
Fortunately, when you become a Stroud National Agent, you’ll gain access to the knowledge, tools and resources you need to guide your clients through the process.
A Legacy of Supporting America’s Farmers and Ranchers
This partnership with ARU complements our long-standing relationships with admitted carriers like Travelers Agribusiness (a 21-year partner) and Liberty Mutual. Rather than replacing existing options, it expands your toolkit with non-admitted insurance solutions for high-risk or hard-to-place accounts.
At Stroud, we’ve built our legacy on trusted partnerships, responsive service, and deep knowledge of rural markets. Adding ARU to our carrier lineup strengthens that commitment—giving you more flexibility to protect your clients, no matter their operation’s size, history, or complexity.
