Stroud National Agency, Inc. is proud to welcome Elizabeth Welch, AFIS. Elizabeth joins us as Senior Farm & Agribusiness Underwriter, working remotely from North Texas. Her ride with the Stroud Crowd begins in our 65th year with 28 years of experience under her belt. She also brings qualities agents value: underwriting knowledge, an understanding of the realities of agency work, and a strong commitment to service.
Experience that travels well
Much of Elizabeth’s insurance background has involved underwriting work across carrier and MGA settings. That includes farm and ranch and personal lines underwriting roles with South and Western Specialty Company, Kemper, and Travelers Property Casualty.
Her underwriting experience has involved a wide range of rural risks. These include rural residences, working farms and ranches, irrigation systems, dairies, feed lots, and wineries. She also holds the Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist designation, a credential that supports the agricultural focus of her insurance work.
She knows the other side too
In addition to underwriting experience, Elizabeth brings valuable agency-side perspective from roles with Higginbotham, Gallagher, and MMA. Her background also includes private client work that is especially relevant to hobby farms, gentleman’s farms, and other rural properties with specialized needs.
Taken together, these experiences give her a clear understanding of the pressure agents face when placing and servicing business. She understands what underwriters need, but she also knows what agents are juggling on the other side.
A strong fit for Stroud National
Founded in 1961, Stroud National built its early reputation in private crop insurance. In the early 2000s, it evolved into a leading farm and ranch MGA and wholesale insurance broker. For decades, Stroud National has helped agents serve rural clients with solid markets, practical expertise, and responsive support.
Elizabeth has spent her career preparing for this kind of work, and she is a natural fit as a Farm & Agribusiness Underwriter. She joins a strong farm and agribusiness team, and we look forward to the experience and perspective she will bring as she grows alongside her teammates.
In the weeks ahead, one of Elizabeth’s main areas of focus will be working with Senior Farm Underwriter & Agribusiness Manager Stephen Bates on Travelers renewals as he prepares to retire from Stroud National on August 28th.
