Irrigation Insurance
Irrigation Insurance for Specialized Agricultural Equipment
Stroud National Agency, Inc. gives independent agents access to two irrigation markets, Chubb and Aegis Ag, with standalone irrigation coverage available in all 18 states we serve.
Irrigation systems can represent a significant investment within an agricultural operation, and the details surrounding that equipment can matter when a risk is submitted for consideration. Location, equipment values, age, configuration, ownership, and how the system is used can all help provide underwriters with a clearer picture of the account.

Have Questions About Irrigation Insurance?
Can I insure my center pivot irrigation system as part of a farm and ranch policy? Do you offer standalone policy options?
It may be possible for us to provide some coverage for center pivot irrigation systems as part of a farm and ranch policy on an actual cash value (ACV) basis. However, we also offer standalone irrigation insurance through Chubb and Aegis Agribusiness (Aegis Ag).
For more information about our irrigation offering, please visit our Irrigation Insurance page.
If you have any questions regarding irrigation, please contact our irrigation underwriter.
What does standalone irrigation insurance cover?
Our irrigation programs are designed to protect irrigation systems against weather-related damage, collision, theft, and mechanical and electrical failure.
Aegis Ag’s programs are written on a special-perils basis and can also include flood, collapse, and earthquake coverage, with a standard per-occurrence deductible applying to covered losses.
Coverage details vary by program and policy, so our irrigation underwriter can help explain the differences for a particular account.
What can keep an irrigation account out of Aegis Ag’s admitted program or ACV coverage?
An account will not qualify for Aegis Ag’s admitted program or ACV coverage if it has more than three losses during the last three-year experience period, if more than 70% of its scheduled pivots are 30 years old or older, or if more than half of its scheduled locations include corner systems.
Accounts that do not qualify may be better suited to Aegis Ag’s non-admitted program.
If you’re unsure where an account fits, our irrigation underwriter can help.
What do I need to submit an irrigation quote?
Our irrigation applications are available in the Irrigation Insurance section of our Agent Tools page.
For Aegis Ag, please send the Inland Marine Application along with three years of hard-copy irrigation loss runs.
For Chubb, the Pivot Irrigation Application will get a quote started, and including the Inland Marine Application can also be helpful.
If you have questions before submitting, please contact our irrigation underwriter.
Is irrigation insurance the same as crop insurance?
No. Irrigation insurance covers irrigation equipment itself, such as center pivot systems, while crop insurance covers the crop.
Stroud National offers standalone irrigation insurance but does not offer crop insurance.
Helping Agents Prepare Irrigation Insurance Submissions
Agricultural operations can change from one season to the next, and irrigation equipment may be added, replaced, relocated, or updated as those operations evolve. Reviewing those changes before submitting new business or a renewal can help ensure the information provided to underwriting reflects the equipment and exposures that exist today.
Agents working with Stroud National also have an experienced irrigation underwriter just a call or email away for quoting guidance, coverage placement, and support throughout the life of the policy.
